Q:  Can I bring my pet to your facility and be present for the cremation?

A: Absolutely!  We encourage this if it is what you want. Our state of the art facility has a comfortable, private room where you are welcome to stay until services are complete.  Best Friends has an “open door” policy that allows you to be present during every step of our services or inspect our facilities beforehand.   We understand how difficult it is when you lose a pet and we try to provide comfort and reassurance.   If you want to be present for your pet’s cremation please call ahead and schedule a time that is convenient for us both.

Q:  May I inspect your facility and ask questions?

A: We encourage everyone to inspect any crematory they are choosing and ask questions.  If inspection is not allowed there should be a valid concern. At Best Friends we are proud of our facility and welcome your visit anytime.  We want you to leave Best Friends knowing that your pet will be treated with dignity and respect by a caring and compassionate staff who share the same bond with animals that you do.

Q: How will my pet be returned to me?

A: Best Friends provides an urn in the appropriate size pictured to the right. It has a mother of pearl finish and is sealed with a blue ribbon and a gold corporate seal so that you know it has not been opened since leaving our hands.  Inside, your pets’ ashes are sealed in a plastic sleeve so that they can be easily removed to scatter or transfer to another urn of your choice.  If you would like to purchase a special urn please visit our urn page or come to Best Friends where many of the urns are on display. Your pet can be returned to your veterinarians office or picked up at Best Friends. By prior arrangement we can ship by UPS to your home.

Q:  How long should it take for you to return my pet?

A: We try to return your pet within 24 to 48 hours.  It should not take weeks for your pet to be returned.  Factors that can delay the return are how far from the immediate area you live or if you have ordered a special urn that has to be engraved. We will have your pet back in your possession as soon as possible.

Q: Will you work with my veterinarian's office to handle my pet's final arrangements?

A: Veterinarians throughout Mississippi are very familiar with Best Friends and they will contact us regarding the pickup and services for your pet.   All you need to do is specify that you want your veterinarian to call Best Friends and we will see that services are provided as soon as possible. We understand how difficult this time is and will do everything   possible to make it as easy for you as we can.

Q:  What are your office hours?

A: We attempt to answer Best Friends’ telephone 24 hours a day. Someone is usually at the office on weekdays from 8:00 – 5:00 and on Saturday until noon and also by appointment.  We provide services for veterinarians and clients across the state of Mississippi so quite often one of us is traveling.  If you will call us and let us know you need assistance we can make ourselves available anytime you need us.

Q:  What happens if my pet passes at home?

A: When a pet passes away at home we will help.  If you would like to bring your pet to Best Friends or arrange for a home pickup we are available day, night, weekends and holidays. There is no additional charge when you bring your pet to Best Friends and only a small charge for home pickup based on distance. We will be there to help you through this difficult time.


Q:  Are there any guidelines set by regulatory organizations you follow?

A: Best Friends is inspected and permitted by the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.  There is no further regulatory commission in the State of Mississippi for pet crematories but we feel there should be.  We have set our own high standards and hold ourselves accountable to assure the community that  pets and their owners will be treated with dignity and respect. This is an area where our “open door” policy is very important because it allows the pet owner to ask any question or be present for any part of the services that they desire.
